Setup guide
From installer to first admission, in about half an hour.
Once, on the computer at your front desk. Screenshots are added here as the desktop app’s screens settle.
- 1
Install and open FitKliq
2 minDownload from this site and run the installer. On Windows you may see a publisher prompt - it should name us. On macOS the app is notarised and opens normally.
- 2
Activate, or start the trial
1 minPaste the licence key from your FitKliq account, or start the 7-day trial. If you have paid but we have not verified yet, the app says so and offers the trial meanwhile.
A licence covers one computer. Key not accepted? Check for typos - the app catches most before it even asks our server.
- 3
Sign in with your gym’s Google account
2 minUse a dedicated Google account for the gym, not a personal inbox, and switch on 2-Step Verification for it first. This account will own your gym’s data.
Whoever controls this account controls your gym’s records. Choose it deliberately.
- 4
The first “Allow” - your Drive files
1 minGoogle asks whether FitKliq may create and manage the files it creates in your Drive, and create your gym’s backend script. This is what lets the app build your gym’s spreadsheet inside your own account.
It cannot see any other file in your Drive. Every permission is broken down on the access and risks page.
- 5
The second “Allow” - your gym’s backend
1 minThe script now running in your own account asks for permission to read and write your gym’s sheets. This consent is between you and your own backend - FitKliq is not a party to it.
- 6
Your gym profile
3 minGym name, address, contact details and the logo that appears on receipts. This is also where the member-facing consent text lives - read it and make it true for your gym.
- 7
Packages and prices
5 minCreate the memberships you actually sell: monthly, quarterly, annual, personal training, day passes. Durations and prices can be changed later without disturbing existing members.
- 8
The super admin, and your staff
3 minSet a strong super admin password - this account controls settings. Then add each staff member with their own login and the smallest role that lets them do their job.
Do not let the whole desk share one login. The audit log is only useful if names are real.
- 9
Import your existing members
10 minBring your current members in from a spreadsheet rather than retyping a register. The wizard maps your columns and shows you what it will create before anything is saved.
- 10
Pair your other devices
2 min eachAdditional computers need their own licence. Phones and tablets pair with a licensed desktop and are included - they read and write through your gym’s own backend.
Troubleshooting
When it does not go smoothly
Google says the app is not verified
You are seeing Google’s unverified-app screen while our OAuth verification is in progress. Check the publisher and domain shown on the screen before continuing - it should be fitkliq.com. If you would rather wait, the trial can be started later.
The licence key is not accepted
Keys are case-insensitive and hyphens are ignored, so typos are the usual cause - the app checks the format before it even contacts us. If the key is right, check your FitKliq account: a key that is still pending verification cannot activate yet.
“This licence is in use on another computer”
A licence binds to one computer. Release it from your FitKliq account, or from the app on the old machine, then activate here. Twice per licence year on your own; support handles the rest.
Setup failed partway through
Run the wizard again - it picks up where it stopped and will not create a second spreadsheet. If it stops at the same step twice, email support with the step name.
I signed in with the wrong Google account
Disconnect the Google account in Settings and sign in with the right one before you enter real member data. Doing this after months of use means moving data between accounts, which is far more work.
Stuck on a step?
Tell us which number you are on and we will get you past it.
Worried about what you are allowing? Every permission is explained here.
